Beetles: They Cost Money

That's right, the Asian long-horned beetles and not the band is going to cost the City of Worcester alot of money to get rid of them, something to the tune of $17 to $24 million.

If it's up the United States Department of Agriculture the City of Worcester and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will have to foot half the bill. What?!

Thank goodness Congressman Jim McGovern and others asked Ed Schafer, Agriculture Secretary, that the Dept. of Agriculture pay the entire bill. Why? Well, Worcester is in the northeast and it would be a shame if the beetles found their way to New Hampshire and Vermont and their respective national forests.

So, as we wait for who is going to foot the bill and the first frost, when the trees can be cut down, we ask the larger question....where's the beef?
