Ballin' in The Woo: Not Happening!

I don't like to revisit posts, but when things like this happen, I am forced to bring it back to the front page and let folks know about it.

On February 25, 2009, I wrote Sports: Worcester BLEW It! Again! because of all cities to get a NBA Developmental League team, Portland, ME landed a team, which is a feeder for the Boston Celtics. Well, look who just announced that they, too, are getting a NBDL team......Springfield, MA!

Yes, Springfield is the birthplace of basketball and it does play host to the National Basketball Hall of Fame, but Springfield? Wow! I'm speechless and fuming and refuse to write another word about how City Manager O'Brien and Mayor Lukes don't get it!

Congratulations to Springfield and owner Michael Savit (HWS Group) for having the cojones to do something that so many said couldn't be or shouldn't be done.
