MCAS Test

I guess those in education are realizing that teachers are teaching just to pass the MCAS and students aren't "learning" what they should know by the time they're in high school.

If the MCAS is scraped for a more comprehensive and nationally-standardized test, maybe there is hope for the future generation?

Only if it's a better test. The stuff I've seen on the national standards suggest it would not be.
(nice catch, BTW...I hadn't seen this yet!)

I haven't seen the national standards proposed tests, but I have seen New York state's Regents test and it is very good.

There's always going to be some debate regarding what a kid should know in order to move from elementary school to junior high and eventually to high school, but when kids are only being taught things only to pass the test, that's a huge disservice to them.
