Casella: Multi-task Recycling

So it's been a few weeks since Casella Waste Management has taken over the contract to handle the recycling in Worcester.

I've seen quite a number of their trucks on the road and I couldn't help but notice how clean the trucks are. Yes, a few of them are new but it appears as if they wash their fleet often.

Check out my neighborhood's recycler as he multi-tasks while collecting the recyclables.

Notice that he picked up the recycling bin, emptied it into his truck and did this all while holding a cellphone and engaged in a serious conversation.

The new Super Heroes

US presidential rivals Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate John McCain are now comic book heroes.

The presumptive nominees for the White House are featured in two new graphic novels that chart each man’s bid to become the next President of the Unites States of America. Each senator appears on the cover of his own book, posed like a superhero standing in front of the American flag.

The books, published by IDW Publishing, go on sale October 8th.

Let them eat cake

It's becoming official that gays who do not reside in Massachusetts can get married in the Bay State. It's about time, right?

Gov. Deval L. Patrick put his name on the repeal at a table set up at the bottom of the Grand Staircase at the State House as about 300 gay marriage supporters, including many from Mass Equality and the Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, roared their approval. A group of key lawmakers stood behind the governor as the event.

“By repealing this law we have affirmed the Democratic principle that all people come before their government as equals,” Mr. Patrick told the audience.
