Political Cross-Branding: When it's BAD

With the political season in full-gear, the number of t-shirts bearing Barack Obama's likeness or McCain's grill seem to be everywhere. Some are funny, but most are just horrible. Here is just a sampling:

The wildest story I heard about cross-branding gone bad was about a woman who was assaulted in New York City for wearing a t-shirt that read "Obama Is My Slave". Other than being assaulted for wearing the t-shirt, it was reported that the woman paid $69 for said t-shirt.

Have HOPE & CHANGE been used?

Have both words been used too much? Well, Obama hopes that you're not tired of both words. Take a look at the most recent grassroots video.

Sarah Palin: Pitbull in a Skirt

Even if you're not a registered Republican, you have to admit that her speech was on point on a number of levels. Now, if only she can teach McCain to "bring the pain" in the coming months. NOT!!

Mayor Kilpatrick going down...

It was only a matter of time before Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick would see the writing on the wall and plead guilty to two felonies- obstruction of justice and lying under oath. Kwame has agreed to pay 1 million dollars in restitution, spend 4 months in jail, serve 5 years of probation, give up his law license and resign as the mayor of the city of Detroit.

For those that were not aware of it, a few weeks prior to the Democratic National Convention, Barack Obama issued a statement and asked Mayor Kilpatrick to not attend the Democratic National Convention and just yesterday, Obama released another statement encouraging Kilpatrick to resign and save Detroit the further embarrassment. I guess Barack's words rung true for Kwame.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Children & Babies

With the announcement that Bristol Palin, the 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, was pregnant on Monday (Labor Day) folks came out of the woods and quickly attempted to throw Sarah under the bus and disparage her.

Other than contending with Americans getting to know Sarah Palin, folks are beginning to know Bristol's boyfriend, Levi Johnston. Read what was posted on his MySpace.com page prior to it being taken down:

"I'm a fuckin' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.
"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some shit and just fuckin' chillin' I guess."
"Ya fuck with me I'll kick [your] ass," he added.
He also claims to be "in a relationship," but states, "I don't want kids."

We wish the young couple a healthy pregnancy despite all the drama that needs to be handled within the family.

Remember, Love IS Love!

Hurricanes & The Gulf Coast

The stories streaming from the Gulf Coast, and particularly New Orleans, are amazing and tell stories of pain and perseverance. Listen to Russell Gore's story as he retells the story about loosing his wife on August 30, 2005, and why he won't evacuate New Orleans now.
