With all the talk about Marketing

The talk about marketing Worcester has been getting alot of press as of late. It may have started elsewhere, but Konnie Lukes brought it up at a City Council meeting earlier in January, and now we saw Worcester Magazine publish not only a cover to that effect, but a well written article in their February 18-24, 2010, issue.

While I've been observant for the many years that I've lived in Worcester, the City does a horrible job with conveying its message of "What type of city Worcester is??", and "Why should someone choose to live here?". The city's slogan changes every week, depending on who uses the next set of "buzz words" in some meeting which is squirreled away in the corner of City Hall.

While there's no specific budget to market Worcester, and this MUST be addressed immediately, there are a number of 'great' minds that live in the City or surrounding towns that know a thing or two about marketing; why not tap into that pool of knowledge? Hmmmm.

What does happen is the same people that are 'connected' sit on the same marketing committees and rehash the same marketing plans that haven't worked before, and try to make them work 6-months or a year later. Isn't that called insanity? Hmmmmm.

So, while I don't have all the answers, it is going to take some people in City Hall to check their egos and reach across the table and hit up the colleges/ universities that call Worcester home. They do have some of the best and brightest minds on their campuses.

And, while you're reaching out, don't forget the various groups of races and ethnicities that call Worcester home. True diversity is key! (Just a reminder.)

Fix your Mirrors

I think this should be mandatory reading for all drivers in Massachusetts. Maybe, just maybe, it'll eliminate some of the blind-spot caused accidents I've seen on the Mass Turnpike.

Adjust your Mirrors!

One Day Without Shoes: 04/08/2010

Being completely honest, I do think about what I put on my feet on a daily basis because I suffer from OSD, and thus started the first Internet sneaker talk show dedicated towards "lovers of sole". Even if you're accustomed to purchasing your sneakers at Marshalls or Building #19, which there's nothing wrong with doing, most "sneakerheads" are very particular about their choice of footwear and spend upwards of $500 for an "exclusive" pair of sneakers or player exclusive sneakers (Sneakers produced by sneaker manufacturers for NBA players.)

When I heard about the "One Day Without Shoes" program, which is taking place on Thursday, April 8, 2010, I decided to share it with the many 'heads (read: sneakerheads a.k.a. sneaker lovers) that I personally know and the greater Worcester community.

While we know we need the basic necessities, we often forget about the feet and don't pay them that much mind, that is until we're faced with a foot issue or maybe we aren't allowed to enter an establishment barefooted.

So, on April 8, 2010, I encourage you to go barefoot for the day and if not, try it for even an hour.

As we say on the OSD talk Show, "Walk GOOD!"

Mitt Romney vs. Sky Blu airplane incident

Former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney, got into an incident on an airplane from Vancouver with little-known rapper Sky Blu, of the rap group LMFAO.

Folks only know Sky Blu from the hit song "Shots", which features a hook by Little Jon, the southern rapper from Atlanta.

Check out the video where Sky Blu explains the incident from his perspective. (Editor's Note: Stupid is what Stupid does.)
