News: Quoting Hip Hop

When magazines headlines invoke lines from famous Hip Hop songs, you
know that the music's range is significant.

This week, NewsWeek called upon Eric B. & Rakim's "I Aint No Joke" to
dub Vice President Joe Biden as no joking matter. (I guess President
Obama's ratings, in NewsWeek's eyes, has fallen so much, that he was
not a good choice for this week's cover?)

Well, at least this way NewsWeeks sells some extra magaiznes and VP
Biden gets some time to shine.

WORC: Downtown Remixed

While driving on Major Taylor Boulevard this afternoon, I started to
think about what downtown Worcester used to be like when I used to
drive from Chestnut Hill to shop at the Worcester Common Outlet.

Worcester, even back then, fealt foreign to me and I thought it was a
good City to visit, but I didn't know about living here. (How does
that old saying go? Never say never. Right.)

Now that I live in Worcester, I still relish in getting to know the
City and exploring the historical timestamps that Worcester has had on
the world.

Long story short, I'm looking forward to a 'remixed' downtown for
Worcester. One that we can be proud of and can take advantage of safely.

Boston Globe no longer for sale

I guess things are looking up at The Boston Globe, and they're looking
so good that the New York Times has announced that The Boston Globe is
no longer for sale.

Cellphone: Banned While Driving in MA! When?

I'm waiting for the day that Massachusetts passes a law that will ban
people from holding a cellphone to their ear while driving.

There have been more than a handful of occasions when I've had a near
head-on accident because the other driver refused to get off the phone
while attempting to turn a corner that required both hands.

Maybe with the increase in accidents that involve a driver that was
talking on a cellular telephone while driving, the local Senate will
realize that a law is long overdue? Maybe, just maybe, fining people
at least $25 for the first offense and upwards of $100 will help put a
dent in the State's deficit?

Recently in California, Maria Shriver was spotted by TMZ.com paparazzi
holdng a cellphone while driving her SUV. This comes on the heels of
her husband and California's Governor, Arnold, signing a law into
effect, banning the use of handheld cellphones while driving.

Read the article at: http://freep.com/article/20091014/NEWS15/910140453/1322/

So, maybe we can push Governor Patrick to pass such a similar law, and
that way he can make statements such as Arnold did about making his 16-
year-old daughter, "take the bus" if caught breaking the law.

Weather: Burrrrrrr

It's so cold this morning that there's a thin layer of frost on the
lawn and the cars.

Is this just a preview of the weather to come this winter?

BusinessWeek Sold

A deal has been made and it looks like McGraw-Hill has sold BusinessWeek to Bloomberg.

BusinessWeek, which has been around for well over 7 decades, appears to have been sold to a group that really wanted to add BusinessWeek, print, BusinessWeek.com and SmallBiz Magazine to their quiver.

Polaroid: Returning Nostalgia

Polaroid has decided to pull an about-face and plans to relaunch
instant film next year.

I've always enjoyed Polaroid instant pictures and was saddened when I
heard that it was being snuffed-out due to digital photography.

I guess I can now stop hoarding all that Instamatic film? Not!
