Back-to-School: What's Hot!

I always enjoying reading stories such as this one when kids tell reporters what is IN these days, when it comes to fashion.

While growing up, I was always one of the best dressed on "free clothes days" (Hey, don't knock my hustle. I attended a parochial school and wore a uniform for 8-years.)

What was once IN when I was in school and college is now back in fashion once again. I knew I should have never left my wife convince me to get rid of my Cross Colours jeans in hues only found in the rainbow!

Despite the Weather

I go on record and state that I was wrong when I wrote on August 18th that September may be similar to June, weather wise.

Here we stand on August 29th (Michael Jackson's Birthday) and the weather did a flip flop and it's 59-degrees outside.

Gotta love Massachusetts' weather!

R.I.P. DJ AM

My phone started buzzing at seven o'clock and all of a sudden I knew
something was going on, and it couldn't be good news.

Now, my phone does ring and buzz often with text messages, but this
was constant.

Two callers called to let me know that DJ AM a/k/a/ Adam Goldstein was
found dead in his New York City apartment. Talk about getting hit
with a brick!

Just this past Sunday (23rd) I watched Adam throw out the first pitch
at the NY Mets game.

It truly is amazing how quickly life changes, and that's why I always
tell people, particularly my daughter, to live in the moment and enjoy
whatever it is they're doing.

Rest In Peace Adam! Keep your laces tied tightly, your tongue loose &
Walk GOOD!

Sneaker Aficionados "Camp Out" for Kicks

Sneakers have an amazing affect on people, and an exclusive release at Concepts in Cambridge, caused sneaker aficionados to "camp-out" to buy a special pair of Nike Dunk SB (SB=Skateboarding) sneakers.

Absolut Boston

Well, looky here! Since the Boston Tea Party is a thing of the past, Boston is now being toasted with vodka instead.

The good folks at ABSOLUT have attempted to capture Beantown in a bottle by creating a black tea-infused concoction which has elderflower infused vodka.

The unveiling of the "Wall of Pride" and toast will take place tomorrow at 11 AM at Boylston Plaza, which features quotations from famed Bostonians. After Los Angeles and New Orleans, Boston is the third US city to get its own themed alcohol.

I wonder if the "unveiling" was purposefully schedule for late August when many of the college students are moving in? My bet is "Yes", and what better way to build a buzz than having a bunch of college-aged adults roaming around Boston slamming down shots of ABSOLUT Boston Vodka?

God Bless the great folks in higher education and residence life that have to deal with these students, and, no, I don't miss the field.

The African Simpsons

The Simpsons, which has been on the Fox Network for soon-to-be turning 20-years, has a new show that is being aired in Angola on an African channel.

There are folks that are up in arms about the African Simpsons, and then there are those that can care less.

Well, we'll have to see how this plays out and whether Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton join the fun. Knowing both Jackson's and Sharpton's history with The Fox Network the sparks should start flying in 3....2......

Health Care Reform Vacation

With all the talk these days in the media about health care reform, I
would think that most Americans, by now, would've spent the 30-minutes
to read the Cliff Notes, but such is not the case when it comes to the
saying," if you want to keep information from people, put it in
writing." (That statement used to be used when referring to Blacks &
Hispanics, but that has long changed due, in part, of the Internet.)

Now that President Obama and familia are chillin' on Martha's
Vineyard, the First Familia is getting a ration of shit for spending
$50k on the week's vaca, which they are paying out of their own
pocket, and spending time away from Washington, D.C., "When he should
be more focused on the Health Care Reform bill", as one Fox News
reporter stated so emphatically this morning.

Well, I think it's good that the Obamas are able to get out of the
Nation's Capital for a bit, especially for the Obama girls.

Maybe the sea air and change of scenery will help President Obama deal
with which side of the coin he's going to play towards this week: the
Conservatives or the Liberals? I know, Obama would probably argue
that, yes, a coin does have 2-sides! But my response is and will be,
you can't please everyone all the time!

So, as the Obama familia chills on MV, I have to wonder if police
officer James Crowley & Henry Louis Gates, Jr. are going to have
that,"iced tea or Kool-Aid" sometime this week? We'll keep you posted
on WIM!
