Obsessions: MA Sports teams

As a life-long NY Yankees and Chicago Bears fan, it sometimes poses
difficulties enjoying sports living in Massachusetts.

I used to be a Boston Celtics fan until 1984, and then switced to the
Chicago Bulls.(Yes, the switch was all do to a player with the
initials of MJ.)

While rooting for the Celtics and living in the US Virgin Islands, I
was always teased because everyone else either rooted for the NY
Knickerbockers or the Los Angeles Lakers. The reality of it was that
the Celtics were "too White" and most Virgin Islanders supported teams
that had alot of Black players.

So, when I moved to Rhode Island I wore my NY Yankees gear proudly, I
quickly noticed that many of my friends, college mates and professors
were not Red Sox fans, but Yankees fans.

Fast-forward 4-years and I moved to Boston, Chestnut Hill more
specifically, to begin working at Boston College. Let the "Obsession"
and the ribbing begin.

I knew Red Sox fans and New England fans, in general, were fanatics,
but damn, I was now in the belly of the beast.

Now, I must confess that I'm the type of guy that wears all my NY
Yankees gear and buys bleacher seat tickets at Fenway Park.( I know,
some may think I'm crazy. Well, I am what I am.)

Having lived in Worcester for sometime now, I find myself rooting for
the New England Patriots, except when they're playing the Bears, and I
root for the Boston Celtics even when they're playing the Bulls, but
it would be a cold day in the Virgin Islands before I root for the
Medias Rojas de Boston!

Until then, I'll be the guy in front of City Hall wearing the red
Yankees hat and jersey! Please so say hello.
