Television in real life

I grew up watching a number of great television shows such as "All in the Family", "The Jeffersons" and "Sanford & Son".

Well, there's a real-life "Sanford & Son" in Worcester, and you can even call them if you'd like. (Just make sure you have some Champipple.....that's champagne mixed with some ripple.)

Miss Worcester Diner is #1

In the midst of last night's Orlando Magic versus Boston Celtics game, I happened to be checking my Twitter feed and read an update from Destination Worcester that read that TLC was showing their "Best Food Ever" on American diners and that Miss Worcester Diner could be within the Top-10.

Well, as much as I like the Celtics, I had to change the channel to see what was up with the TLC show and where the Miss Worcester Diner would land.

The diner took home the top honors and was named the #1 "Darn Good Diner in America". Congratulations!

So, being the tech-geek that I am, I had to figure out a way to record it quickly and I immediately reached for my cellphone. (I almost wasn't able to record it due to heavy cellphone usage today.)

Here's part 1, which gets cut short because I was running out of "juice" on the cell and I lost the feed:

Here's part 2, which is covers the majority of the Miss Worcester Diner segment:

The African Simpsons

The Simpsons, which has been on the Fox Network for soon-to-be turning 20-years, has a new show that is being aired in Angola on an African channel.

There are folks that are up in arms about the African Simpsons, and then there are those that can care less.

Well, we'll have to see how this plays out and whether Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton join the fun. Knowing both Jackson's and Sharpton's history with The Fox Network the sparks should start flying in 3....2......

Digital TV: Postponed

So the House of Representatives voted earlier today to postpone the transition to Digital TV until June 12, 2009.  It's not like folks didn't have enough time to get their act together, rather it's all about the Benjamins.

The new administration called for the digital transition to be postponed after the Commerce Department last month hit a $1.34 billion funding limit for coupons that subsidize converter boxes for consumers. The coupon program allows consumers to request up to two $40 vouchers per household to help pay for the boxes, which generally cost between $40 and $80 each and can be purchased without a coupon.

So FCC Chairman Michael Copps got his wish.

"The country is not prepared to undertake a nationwide transition in 12 days without unacceptably high consumer dislocation," acting FCC chairman Michael Copps said in a statement. "We've got a lot of work to do, but we now have an opportunity to do it better."

Barbara Walters Interviews Obama

In case you missed it, President-elect Barack Obama and First Lady-elect Michelle Obama sat down with Barbara Walters for a Barbara Walters Special which aired Wednesday night.

The interview covered, among other things, a potential bailout of the auto industry, bonuses for bank executives and Obama’s negotiations to retain his BlackBerry. Obama also details his biggest fear, and it’s not what you might think.
