Valentine's Day: Not my cup of TEA

Since Valentine's Day is not my cup of tea, and I can care less about it, here's something funny that my sneaker lovers will appreciate. (Don't get me wrong, I love LOVE and have no problem expressing it, but I have always disliked Valentine's Day. I think folks make a big deal of the day, and I believe in showing love everyday and NOT specifically on one day.)

Christina Adrianopoulos: You GO Girl!

The commenting haters are in full-effect mode, chiming in on the article written by Dianne Williamson's "High-profile bachelorette oozes celebrity".

The funny thing about many of the comments is that people either feel people are laughing at Christina for "playing" herself (read: making herself look dumb.) , but what they don't get is that at any age, whether it's 45-years old or 65-years old, we all are looking for compassion and love and who are we to say that someone can't look for it and find it today's world, much less the City of Worcester.

I love when op-ed pieces are written and then the deluge of comments come from all areas throughout Worcester County and outside of New England. Some make sense, but many are just people who are unhappy with their own life and choose to "hate" on someone that is trying something unique.

Yes, I'm the first to say that reality television has caused more harm than good, but people obviously like to watch these shows and think aloud, "My life may be bad, but I'm better off than that person." While it may be true or not, I admire Christina because she's putting herself out there for the good and the bad, and I hope she finds a good gentleman. As I've listened to many of my female friends about what it's like to "find a good man", it's tough pickings these days, and meeting a man at the library, church, etc., is out of the question.

So, Christina, go on with your bad self and we'll be keeping an eye out for your show on Channel 3! Two snaps up!

WYSL: Worcester Youth Soccer League Fall Registration

While the weather is changing to the warmer days, it's time to start thinking ahead and planning for fall soccer.

The Worcester Youth Soccer League(WYSL) has begun marketing the fall season and I must say it's so much fun to watch children learn and play the game of soccer, all the while learning some great life skills.

If you have a child, nephew, niece, granddaughter or grandson, please consider signing them up for fall soccer. We're always looking for girls and boys to get their kicks and keep rolling!

Moratorium On Selfishness Walk

I had an opportunity to speak briefly with Jovan Roseboro this afternoon because of my friend Robert Moore, Jr. who found out about Jovan through a friend in Colorado and decided to join Jovan on his walk to Washington, D.C..

Again, our conversation was brief, but in the few minutes that I was able to speak with Jovan, I was able to quickly realize that he is a "Change Agent" and someone whose past is just that, in the past.

Jovan decided to walk--
"Moratorium On Selfishness Walk"-- from North Carolina to Washington, D.C. to push for Americans to think about how WE are all connected and that we can't rely solely on the Government for the answers.

Coming from the Caribbean and a tightly-knit community, I understand the "village" mentality and it's just that which Jovan Roseboro is encouraging us to embrace.....one another.

For more information on Jovan and the Moratorium On Selfishness Walk, please visit the Change Is Possible website, and to see more videos of Jovan on his walk, please visit his channel on YouTube here.

CHANGE

It's a new year and many folks start the new year by making a few resolutions. For some, there's the traditional resolution of loosing weight, quit smoking, earn their high school diploma, finish the college degree they started and the list goes on and on.

One of the hardest things about resolutions is that most people make them and within a few weeks they've given up and 'cashed in those chips'.

If you've made a resolution and are comfortable sharing it with the Worcester Is MAJOR! readers, we'd like you to post it in the comments section.

Oh, the shame!

The shame that is now known as the former Governor Spitzer, everyone and their step-daughter is jumping in and making fun of him.

The real shame about all of this is Mrs. Spitzer and their three teenaged daughters. They will have to live with this forever and we at WIM do pray for all of them, including Eliot.

Through all of this, the silver lining is that he "manned up" and is taking responsibility for his actions.
