New Things (Near Main St.)

If you've driven by the Dunkin' Donuts on the corner of Hammond & Main Street, you've seen that the place is closed and is under a MAJOR facelift.
The D&D is getting not only some Botox, but a new grill and a girdle that will suck in and sculpt it's new midsection.

Well, right next door is St.Peter Central Catholic School, who, through a major bartering deal, got a newly paved parking lot. It's beautiful!

If you didn't see the parking lot before it was resurfaced, it was a mess and driving into the parking lot could cause you to lose your lunch and then some.

In the coming 4-5 weeks, the D&D will reopen and all the people that have missed their morning or daily "pit stop", don't worry, they're coming back better and with more curves than a bottle of of Coke.(Make mine a Diet Coke, please. Thank you.)

Walking Honestly

The man dubbed "The Last Honest Man In Worcester" by Jeff of Wormtowntaxi.com and other fellow bloggers in Worcester, I happened to have spotted The Man walking on Main Street and snapped this picture while I was waiting at the light.

I was trying to read his sign, but couldn't because he was spinning it
on some homemade rotational device! Props for creativity!

Walk GOOD Honest Man!

Driving in The Woo!

This picture was taken on Hammond Street heading towards Main Street
at 8:50 am.

I have always said that driving in Massachusetts is a true test in
'defensive driving', but it takes a special person to drive in The Woo!

Driving in Worcester, well, you have to account for the random
person stopping in the middle of the road to 'hail up' (read: say
hello) someone or, on occassion, reach around to smack the ish out of
kid or sorry back-seat driver.

Thank goodness I had the best driving instructor a person could
have.....my mother and the rolling, steep, cliff-lined roads of St.
John a/k/a/ Love City!

Fire: Victim named

As I posted earlier this morning that the coroner's office would be releasing the name of the victim found inside the house, the person has been identified as 51-year old Joyce Coughlin.

Read the article on the T&G's website.

Fire: House on Main

This is the house on Main Street where there was a 3-alarm fire on Sunday morning.

It's being reported by the Telegram & Gazette that a woman was found
in the house and the coroner's office plans to announce the name of
the victim today.

Wrecking Crew

So the eye sore that's been a fixture on Main Street is being demolished.

It took a long time for the demolition to begin but this should make some folks in Worcester feel better about the former Worcester Common Outlets building being demolished, right? Don't hold your breath!
