Last Honest Man (Wormtown Fleet)

As a MAJOR hat-tip to the late, and never duplicated, Jeff Barnard, of Wormtown Taxi (http://wormtowntaxi.com), I present to you the "Last Honest Man".
The Last Honest Man makes no qualms about it. I've seen him with a sign that read,"Why lie? I need money for beer!", and "I need to get high!".
I can never knock someone's hustle, and when they're honest I appreciate that immensely. You know where they're coming from and what they plan to do.

Television in real life

I grew up watching a number of great television shows such as "All in the Family", "The Jeffersons" and "Sanford & Son".

Well, there's a real-life "Sanford & Son" in Worcester, and you can even call them if you'd like. (Just make sure you have some Champipple.....that's champagne mixed with some ripple.)

Never too old to PLAY

Who ever said you get too old to play with toys?
Well, with this toy, it just may outlive many human beings.

Worcester's New Parking Meters

Spotted this new parking meter on Franklin Street near the T&G building.
This just confirms what I know already: most people don't carry change or cash, but they do have their credit card and/or debit card handy.

Worcester Blogger Coffee Pictures

I was planning to post pictures of the Worcester Blogger Coffee on Sunday night once I got home, but I got lazy and decided that I'd post them on Monday.

Well, Monday came and then I was graced with footwear marketing campaign that I wanted to be involved with but thought the company and their team wanted to go with an advertising outfit in New York City.  Thus the delay with posting the pictures.

I do believe that everything happens for a reason and, while I don't completely know the reason at the moment, when I began to review the pictures, they brought a smile to my face and confirmed that we have some great Bloggers in Worcester who are passionate and, at the same time, don't take themselves too seriously.  And that is a good thing.

 

While I didn't note the folks in the pictures, believe me when I write this, these are just a few of the cream of the crop of writers in the Worcester Blogosphere.

New Things (Near Main St.)

If you've driven by the Dunkin' Donuts on the corner of Hammond & Main Street, you've seen that the place is closed and is under a MAJOR facelift.
The D&D is getting not only some Botox, but a new grill and a girdle that will suck in and sculpt it's new midsection.

Well, right next door is St.Peter Central Catholic School, who, through a major bartering deal, got a newly paved parking lot. It's beautiful!

If you didn't see the parking lot before it was resurfaced, it was a mess and driving into the parking lot could cause you to lose your lunch and then some.

In the coming 4-5 weeks, the D&D will reopen and all the people that have missed their morning or daily "pit stop", don't worry, they're coming back better and with more curves than a bottle of of Coke.(Make mine a Diet Coke, please. Thank you.)

Intersecting Life

I know some people that avoid Kelly Square as if it were the the plague.

Whenever someone who isn't familiar with Worcester and happens to drive through Kelly Square, I love hearing their comments such as,"That intersection is CRAZY and people drive through there like they've lost their mind!" Yeah, that sounds about right.

Wormtown Fleet: Lake Avenue

It's been some 10-years that someone showed me a brilliant cut-through to get to Lincoln Street without getting on the highway.  Finding little 'shortcuts' like this are what make living in a town or city alot of fun and, at the same time, frustrating.

The pluses are too numerous to mention and I won't bore you with the details.

The minuses are as follows:

•  Whoever decided to install a stop light on this single lane road, in either direction, is a (you fill in the blank).

• The people that live along this stretch of road are probably tired of cars treating this road as their own person drag strip.
• The people that live along this stretch of road are probably sick and tired of the plethora of cars that stop at the light and are blaring their music.

 So, the next time your 'cutting through' on Lake Avenue please be mindful of the residents that live there and turn down your Whitesnake.  Thank you!
