It's Monday and most Americans and, people in general, struggle to get going.  Have that extra cup of coffee and it may reduce your risk of prostate cancer.

 Overall, the research shows that coffee is far more healthful than it is harmful,” says Dr. Tomas DePaulis, research scientist at Vanderbilt University’s Institute for Coffee Studies. “For most people, very little bad comes from drinking it, but a lot of good.” Coffee not only perks up energy and helps sharpen the mind, it has been shown to lessen the severity of a heart attack or stroke and protect against certain cancers, type 2 diabetes, liver disease and gallstones. There’s also evidence that coffee may help stop a headache, boost mood and even prevent cavities. And a study presented this week at the Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research conference in Houston, Texas shows that men who drink coffee on a regular basis have an added benefit—a significantly decreased risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer.

Or, maybe, we should take a cue from the future leaders of America?

Media Changing at the Speed of Light

As the world turns, and I'm not writing about the soap opera, but with the advancements in technology, Newsweek magazine is now up for sale and its only a matter of weeks (I hope) before Allen & Company find a buyer.

I guess covers such as Palingate that I wrote about back in November 2009, in her running shorts and Joe Biden laying the smacketh down didn't do enough.

Republican National Chairman, Michael Steele, is once again in the hot seat for allowing a $2,000 bill to be expensed for a LA strip club.

I guess the scandal is so disturbing that Sarah Palin has asked the RNC to remove her name from a RNC fundraiser taking place in New Orleans this weekend.

Words Matter

This piece by Don Lemon of CNN (http://Twitter.com/donlemoncnn) is a
reminder that we need to remember that all words carry weight.

Words of hatred and ignorance have no place at the table of life and
when I hear kids or others using words such as, "nigga, faggot, dyke,
and gook", to name a few, I wince because they don't realize that
those words were used to break-down and make someone feel inferior and
separate us.

Now, more than ever, we have to realize that we don't live in pockets,
even though many people choose to self-segregate.

At the end of the day, it's all about FEAR and fear is something that
is difficult to overcome no matter if you're male, female, Black,
White, Asian, Hispanic, gay, Bi-Racial, etc.

Ignorance breeds fear, fear fuels hatred and hatred feeds the ignorance....especially when it comes to Health Care Reform.

Canada Gets IT (Palingate cont.)

When many folks refer to Canada, some refer to Canadians as "those folks north of America with the funny accents"(I better not hear anyone from Massachusetts speak such words).

Leave it to the CBC to show the incorrect Palin book jacket when discussing the former vice-presidential candidate.

Maybe, they do "get it" in Canada? (And maybe, just maybe, Massachusetts residents need to take some oratory lessons from our sisters and brothers from up North.)

back to her routine of running.

Since there are alot of folks who are trying to pin the "L" on Palin,
to which there is an online petition, started by Erick Erickson of
redstate.com aptly titled "Operation Leper", Palin has been spotted
running the streets of Wasilla, Alaska.

Palin: The thought process

It was very interesting for me to watch the Vice Presidential debate on Thursday, not only for entertainment purposes, but to see if Palin would stumble and bumble her way through it all. She didn't and I must say that she's a quick learner, or make that a quick memorizer.

My hopes were that Biden was going to make her appear silly and, as I like to say, "SMASH Her!", but he didn't for fear of appearing too aggressive and "goin' hard after her because he's debating a woman". What Biden did do is give me some good sighs and looks of "WTF", all the while smiling and even nodding. Joe is a gentleman, after all.

In other Palin news, there is an email circulating that shows people in Palin's state of Alaska rallying against her. Pretty interesting if you ask me because we, in the other continuous states, don't hear or see the news reporting this type of news. By mere appearance and listening to the radio, we're led to believe that everyone in Alaska is 100% in support of Palin and McCain's run for the White House.

With the announcement that Bristol Palin, the 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, was pregnant on Monday (Labor Day) folks came out of the woods and quickly attempted to throw Sarah under the bus and disparage her.

Other than contending with Americans getting to know Sarah Palin, folks are beginning to know Bristol's boyfriend, Levi Johnston. Read what was posted on his MySpace.com page prior to it being taken down:

"I'm a fuckin' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.
"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some shit and just fuckin' chillin' I guess."
"Ya fuck with me I'll kick [your] ass," he added.
He also claims to be "in a relationship," but states, "I don't want kids."

We wish the young couple a healthy pregnancy despite all the drama that needs to be handled within the family.
