[Video] King Street Block Party

As I wrote and posted pictures from last Sunday's King Street Block Party, I decided to shoot some video with my cellphone, chop it up, and upload the video to YouTube.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did in filming it.

Worcester World Cup 2011: Iran vs. Guatemala

It's now halftime, and the score is 5-0 favoring the very athletic and ball-controlling Iranian team.

If team Iran plays this way for the rest of the tournament, they are going to be very hard to beat.

Here's a video clip of their 3rd goal.

Local Heroes: Brenda Jenkins (Mosaic Cultural Complex & YMCA)

On March 24, 2011, the American Red Cross of Central and Western Massachusetts recognized a number of people in the community as "local heroes".  The list included:
  • Dr. Michael Hirsh and Dr. Mariann Manno of UMASS Memorial Medical Center Injury Prevention Office.
  • Worcester Firefighters Local 1009 Ramp Gang.
  • Brenda Jenkins
  • Joseph Deranamie
  • The Belmont Street Baptist Church Haiti Team
All of the people involved have contributed to the betterment of human beings, and encouraging, supporting and assisting those in need.

One particular person that was honored was Brenda Jenkins, the co-founder of the Mosaic Cultural Complex, and a community leader at the YMCA of Worcester.

Brenda's organization works with women and men that have been affiliated with gangs, drugs and, overall, trying to get their life together and contribute to the richness that we call the Worcester Community.

Here's a short video that was put together by the American Red Cross of Central and Western Massachusetts, and filmed by Ryan Hughes.

More YouTube Time

The rumor mill was churning and once the topic kept popping up on various tech websites, I knew there had to be some truth to it.  YouTube's video time limit is increasing from 10-minutes to 15-minutes.

As part of the upgrade, YouTube is hosting a contest where everyone can have their "15 Minutes of Fame" by uploading a 15-minute video to YouTube and tag it as "yt15minutes" by Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Videos that are selected will be highlighted on YouTube's front page.

Now, City Manager, Michael O'Brien, and Mayor Joe O'Brien can go all out marketing the City to attract new businesses and residents.

Music Video: Sleep Alive (Lights, Camera, Action)

Over the past year, I've been getting more into digital photography and and learning the craft to what I see in print and certainly on television.  While learning about f-stops, aperture, ISO, light sensitivity and the myriad of things that go into taking good pictures, I have also returned to a passion which is video.
(I have to admit that having a relative in film school at NYU has rekindled 'that' fire for me and we talk about editing, framing, shot selection and I learn something new from every conversation.)

While my circle of people are all over the world being creative, photography and video are the 'glue' and I was sent this link to the Sleep Alive music video, which was filmed in part at Bocado and Elm Draught House Cinema(Millbury, MA), by my boy who lives in Brooklyn, NY.

I'm diggin' the song and the energy is amazing, but the additional kicker is the fact that music video was shot with two Canon 5d DSLRs (Hat tip to Tom Guilmette, the DP of "Lights, Camera, Action").

Lightning Strike x 3

Someone sent me this video of lightning striking 3 buildings in Chicago from last week's storm.  Check out the awesome footage.

For the third time in the last 6 days, another line of nasty storms rolled through Chicago on Wednesday evening. I love coming home and being able to watch and capture nature's beauty from my balcony. In this clip you will see three of the tallest buildings in Chicago get struck by lightning at the same time. Willis Tower (Tallest), Trump International Hotel and Tower (2nd Tallest) and the John Hancock Building(4th tallest).

Driving in Worcester

I've been meaning to set-up my car web camera, but I've been sidetracked by my mother's hip surgery, but I finally got around to it today and decided to do some testing while making my way through Kelly Square.

This is just the beginning.

Lights, Camera, Action

It's great to see that the Colleges of Worcester Consortium is rolling out a contest to get the students of Worcester involved in marketing the City, and not just "taking up space" as I overhead one lady refer to college students while talking loudly at PriceChopper.

This should be very interesting and if it were up to me, I'd make sure to include 'Da Face & the New Guy in a my video. Hmmmmmm.
